Introduction
Permanent magnets are made from materials which can generate magnetic fields around themselves. They are featured by large coercivity and high magnetic remanence. They can be divided in ferrite magnets and rare-earth magnets. Types
Rare-earth magnets are commonly classed into two kinds: neodymium magnets and samarium cobalt magnets. So, we can know permanent magnets in following three kinds.
1. Neodymium Magnets
They are the strongest magnets made so far. NdFeB magnetic devices are widely used in aviation field, aerospace field, electronic industry, electrical industry, mechanical industry, instrument manufacturing, etc.
2. SmCo Magnets
SmCo magnets are made from samarium, cobalt and other rare earth materials. They were developed in the early 1970s. According to different components, its molecular formula is SmCo5 or Sm2Co17. These permanent magnets possess larger temperature ratings and higher coercivity than NdFeB magnets.
3. Ferrite Magnet
Unlike SmCo and NdFeB magnetic devices, ferrite products are much cheaper in material costs. They are featured by good temperature resistance, large magnetic permeability and good magnetic performance. Besides, they are easy to achieve magnetic saturation.
