Introduction
1. Samarium cobalt magnets, or SmCo magnets, are made from samarium, cobalt and other rare earth materials. According to different components, its molecular formula is SmCo5 or Sr2Co17.
2. As rare earth magnets, they were developed in the early 1970s. They are similarly in strength to neodymium magnets, but have larger temperature ratings and higher coercivity. Samarium cobalt magnets are brittle, and prone to cracking and chipping. They are also featured by high energy product.
Applications
